This website used to be hosted on a friends VPS, he originally owned it for hosting random game servers. I helped him setup game servers and also allowed me to host this site. Unfortunately due to life and costs he stopped paying for the VPS, and me lacking the funds to host my own VPS I just kinda let my site die with it.
I'm glad to say it's back up thanks to Github Pages. I knew about this service they provide but I've never extensively looked into it, but I'm glad I finally did. Pretty straightforward if you're already working with static files like a basic index.html
, simply make a new repo and publish the static files, go into the repo settings and setup Pages. Even static website generators like Zola can be utilized by using Github Actions like zola-deploy-action.
Anyway, thank you Github. You've allowed me to have this small space again.
